Truck Strike At Ports of LA, Long Beach
Port drivers who haul goods from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have gone on strike today over wage disputes and employee status.
The strikes by a number of truck drivers comes at a time when West Coast ports and the industry as a whole tries to recover from a recent dockworkers strike. Today’s strikes, which also expand to the rail yards and other locations where truck companies dispatch their port drivers, are not expected to shut down the ports operations. However, it is unclear as to how many truckers would be walking off the job and how long the strikes would go on for.
The drivers notified the trucking companies of their intent to strike at 6am Pacific time (today, April 27th) and immediately setup picket lines.
