In Breaking News, Industry News, Trans-Border Global Freight Systems, Inc.

June 28, 2022 – Due to the Import Control Systems (ICS2) customs mandate, we would like to alert the community of the requirements that must be adhered to for all air freight consignments that are imported into to the EU, Northen Ireland. Switzerland and Norway.

For consignments to these regions (regardless of cargo origin), please provide us with the following information on each and every air shipment:

  • For imports to the EU and Northern Ireland – the actual importer’s Economic Operator Registration and Identification Number (EORI)
  • For imports to Norway – the actual importer’s Merverdiavgift number (MVA/VAT)
  • For imports to Switzerland – the actual importers Unternehmens-ID number (UID)

The above mandate is similar to the policies implemented by China and India for consignments into those regions. We therefore ask that all customers obtain this information from their clients in the subject region to avoid any delays with the transportation of your cargo. If this information is not provided to Trans-Border, we will not be able to transport your shipments and subsequently, delays will occur.

At this time, these requirements only apply to air freight consignments. It is anticipated that this mandate will extend to all sea, rail and road imports to the above regions as of March 1, 2024. We will continue to monitor developments on this portion as we draw closer to the time.

In the interim, should you have additional questions about this new mandate, please contact Yateen Patel, Director of Export Compliance or call 800-493-9444.
