USTR Requests Comment on Extensions for Second Round of Section 301 List 1 Exclusions
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is seeking public comment regarding the extension of exclusions granted during the second round of Section 301 List 1 exclusions. This set of product exclusions is currently set to expire on March 25, 2020, and an extension would add another year of validity.
The focus of USTR’s evaluation will be whether the particular product remains available only from China. In addition, USTR will consider whether the imposition of additional duties will result in severe economic harm to the commenter or other U.S. interests.
The second round of Section 301 List 1 exclusions covers 33 HTS subheadings, and it is unlikely that all of the subheadings/products will be granted extensions.
The notice from USTR can be found here.
Trans-Border will continue to monitor the situation. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bill Carey, Import Compliance Manager, at bcarey@tbgfs.com or (800) 493-9444.
