Want to try to lower your import duty? USITC announces online portal for submitting MTB petitions

Categories:

The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) will begin accepting Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) petition submissions through an online portal on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 8:45 a.m. An MTB petition is used to request duty suspension or reduction on an imported product.

For guidance, USITC has posted an MTBPS Information Page. Before you file a petition, we recommend reading USTIC’s Before You File guide to get started.

Additionally, the USITC held an informational webinar earlier this week in Washington D.C. to provide an overview of the MTB petition filing process. The webinar slides will be available for viewing at a later date.

If you have questions pertaining to the MTB process, please contact USITC representatives at mtbinfo@usitc.gov.

If you require further assistance or have any questions, please reach out to Bill Carey, Import Compliance Manager, at bcarey@tbgfs.com or (800) 493-9444.
