US Suspends Duties on UK Products Subject to Section 301 Dispute

Categories: , ,

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is temporarily suspending additional duties on products of the United Kingdom (UK) subject to the Section 301 Airbus-Boeing dispute. Products subject to duty suspension include aircraft parts, luxury apparel, cheese, steel, and others.

The suspension is effective for imports, or warehouse withdrawals for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern standard time on March 4, 2021 and before 12:01 a.m. eastern standard time on July 4, 2021.

This announcement is the next step in a long dispute between the US and European Union (EU) regarding subsidies provided to both Boeing and Airbus. In October 2019, the US imposed the now-suspended duties on several EU member nations, including the UK, following an arbitration ruling from the World Trade Organization (WTO).

For ease of reference, USTR has provided a complete list of affected products, countries of origin, Chapter 99 HTSUS numbers, and the associated effective dates and tariff rates, which can be found here.
