Port of Montreal longshoremen begin 4-day strike
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the union representing longshoremen working at the Port of Montreal, provided a strike notice last week to the Port’s employer association. The Port of Montreal longshoremen will strike starting Monday, July 27, at 7:00 AM and will continue until Friday, July 31, at 6:59 a.m.
The strike will impact all terminals except for Oceanex services and the grain terminals. Due to these activities, there will be a suspension in mooring and cargo handling services at most Port of Montreal terminals.
The strike is in response to on-going negotiations regarding the renewal of the longshoremen’s collective agreement with the Port.
Trans-Border will continue to monitor this developing situation and provide updates as needed. If you have any questions, please reach out to at info@tbgfs.com or (800) 493-9444.
