NEMF bankruptcy shocks industry
New England Motor Freight (NEMF), the second-largest less than truckload (LTL) carrier in the Northeast, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, sending out shock waves across the industry. The company, which is based out of New Jersey, had more than 35 terminals stretching from Maine, over to Chicago, and down into Virginia.
This bankruptcy will have a huge impact on shippers, especially those operating out of New York and New Jersey. In fact, shippers in the northeast are already seeing pricing increases as the capacity of LTL carriers shrinks.
We here at Trans-Border will do our best to maintain competitive pricing across our service lines but do ask patience as we feel the effects of this industry change.
