Port of Montreal attracts third trans-Atlantic service

Categories: , , ,

The port of Montreal has attracted its third new trans-Atlantic service in 2019. Cosco Shipping will begin a weekly service linking the port of Montreal to North Europe. This comes on the heels of high-single digit volume growth at the port, believed to be aided by the new trade agreement between Canada and the European Union.

The service adds a seventh carrier to Montreal’s slate, bringing additional cargo volume to an already rapidly-growing port. The port of Montreal saw a 9.2 percent increase in loaded and unloaded cargo in 2018 over the year before, with volumes increasing 8 percent in the first two months of 2019 over the same period the year before.
