Increased Enforcement from CBP Reported for Wood Packaging Materials Violations

Categories: , ,

The trade community is reporting an increase in enforcement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection regarding regulations on the treatment and marking of wood packaging materials.

The regulations from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) are meant to prevent the introduction of exotic pests and parasites. Specific production information can be found in the Wood and Wood Products section of the Miscellaneous and Processed Product Manual (MPPM) published by the USDA.

Trans-Border will continue to monitor the situation. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bill Carey, Import Compliance Manager, at bcarey@tbgfs.com or (800) 493-9444.
