Container Ship Stuck in Suez Canal has been Freed
Six days after getting stuck sideways in the Suez Canal, the MV Ever Given is reported to be refloated and back on the move. Salvage crews dredged approximately 30,000 cubic meters of sand, while working around the changing tides, in order to free the megaship.
Upon initial inspection of the vessel as well as the canal, there does not appear to be immediate damage. Even so, the MV Ever Given was towed to Great Bitter Lake where it will go under further inspection for seaworthiness.
Traffic will reopen through the Suez Canal this evening with more than 400 ships waiting to pass through it.
Trans-Border will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as it unfolds. If any of your shipments are impacted by the delay, you will be notified by your Trans-Border representative.
