China tariff scheduled for December 15 set to go into effect

Categories: ,

As previously reported, the U.S. and China came to a preliminary trade agreement and President Trump delayed the proposed 5% tariff increase on Section 301 List 1, 2, and 3 products. However, the 15% increase on List 4B products was not delayed and is set to go into effect next week on December 15.

President Trump attended a NATO summit in London last week. While talking to reporters at the summit, he indicated that he will not likely pursue a further trade deal with China until after the 2020 election. This being the case, it appears next week’s scheduled tariff hike will go into effect.
