China announces additional tariff exemptions on US products
Last Friday, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) announced exemptions to tariffs previously imposed on US product imports.
The exemptions cover two product lists, both of which will be in effect for one year from February 28, 2020 to February 27, 2021. The products listed in both List 1 and List 2 will not face additional tariffs during the one-year exemption period.
Additionally, any customs duties and taxes that have been levied on List 1 products since September 2018 are eligible for a refund. Interested parties will be able to submit a refund application to the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council within six months of this announcement.
List 1 includes medical devices, engine components, and timber products. The full List 1 can be found here.
List 2 includes scientific equipment, such as gene sequencers and temperature sensors. The full List 2 can be found here.
You can find the announcement from China’s Customs Tariff Commission here.
