WORLDWIDE NOTICE ON REQUIRED CARGO TREATMENTS FOR US EXPORTS TO AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND

Worldwide Notice on Required Cargo Treatments For
US Exports To Australia & New Zealand

September 1, 2016 – Please take note of the following guidelines and treatment requirements for cargo traveling from ports in the U.S. to Australia and New Zealand during the 2016/2017 season for Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs, which commences on September 1, 2016.

The measures implemented are largely unchanged from last year’s season – with season dates, treatments and requirement’s unchanged.

CARGO TRAVELING FROM USA TO AUSTRALIA
The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has issued its measures for the 2016/17 season, which are largely unchanged from last year’s season. With season dates, treatments and requirements unchanged. The full mandate can be viewed here.

The new list of Target Goods is as follows:
• includes break bulk machinery parts (not containerized)
• includes machinery from additional tariffs
• excludes lower risk goods such as small all-terrain vehicles, jet skis, canoes and buoys

nnAQIS Commodity codes will be created to assist with the exclusions of lower risk goods.

These measures will remain in place for the entire season unless pest infestations are detected. Should this occur, the department may impose emergency requirements.
