The Power of Positivity

“If You Only Do What You Can Do, You Will Never Be More Than Who You Are…”

These enlightened words of wisdom came to my ears last night as I was watching Kung Fu Panda 3 with my 12 and 14-year-old sons. I felt very lucky that they still want to watch movies (even hold my hands) and eat ice cream together. The ice cream was probably not a good thing after receiving my 49-year-old physical earlier in the day… I realized I need to drop about 7 kgs; much easier to achieve than 15 lbs – Hey, we are international here at Trans-Border!

The point is attitude – we all have one and we can make the choice to stay positive or negative. You can’t move forward in life or business without having a positive attitude that pushes you to take chances, learn about things, be innovative and have fun living & working. My wife read me a passage the other day from a book and it was a quick story about a little boy.  He had a baseball bat and a ball and he said to himself, “I’m the best hitter in the world.”  He threw the ball up, swung and missed: Strike One! The boy picked up the ball, straightened his cap and said it again: “I’m the best hitter in the world.”  He tossed the ball up and swung and missed again: Strike Two! This time he said it with even more determination: “I’m the best hitter in the world!”  He tossed the ball up, swung away and missed again – Strike Three! The boy then laid down the bat, smiled real big and said, “What do you know? I’m the best pitcher in all the world.”

At Trans-Border we realize that having a positive attitude is vital to ensuring that we are providing the finest service, compliance support and business efficiency to you our valued customers. We understand that together we must solve problems, but the real goal is focusing on the possibilities of achievement/success for all parties. We have a sign that hangs in our office, it reads – “Service is the lifeblood of any organization. Everything flows from it and is nourished by it.  Customer service is not a department…it’s an attitude.”

Wishing all a fantastic and a healthy summer. “Yesterday is history and Tomorrow is a mystery, But Today is a gift that is why we call it the Present.” I heard this bit of wisdom in the first Kung Fu Panda and if I remember correctly I was eating licorice and jelly beans with my kids – 7kgs ago…
