U.S. warehouse space remains tight
The availability of warehouse space in the U.S. last year hit the lowest level since 2000 and will remain tight this year. The large surge of inbound containers from China have sent importers scrambling to find warehouse space.
Real estate brokerage CBRE reported that only 7 percent of industrial space was vacant and available in the fourth quarter of 2018. Demand has exceeded supply by 29 million million square feet throughout 2018.
