New rail link at the Port of NY/NJ
The first train left the Port of New York and New Jersey’s new $149M rail terminal on Monday, with focus on expanding freight movements to/from the Midwest. The new facility is a off-dock terminal at GCT Bayonne with an estimated lift capacity of 250,000 lifts per year. This is the 4th terminal in the port’s rail system known as Express Rail.
The New York – New Jersey rail business is increasing despite tough competition from Charleston, which enjoyed a 7.5% in the share of rail moves between the top four ports on the East Coast.
