Trans-Border Global Freight Systems began operations on February 2, 1997 in Latham, NY as a subsidiary of Trans-Border Customs services, Inc., one of the top U.S. Customs brokerage firms at the time. In early 1999, TBGFS was incorporated and began operating as its own entity.

The company objective was to offer the highest quality service in the international and domestic freight forwarding industry. Trans-Border believes in educating and assisting their clients in all facets of international trade in order to form a true partnership allowing all to grow together.

The commitment to customer service and the ability to provide client customized service has enabled Trans- Border to enjoy steady growth. In 1999, Trans-Border moved into a much larger building on Wade Road in Latham, NY and had by this time doubled in staff.
Trans-Border’s independence is quite unique compared to its competition. We are not part of a franchise and do not report to a corporate office in another state. All contracts with the commercial airlines, steamship lines, overseas partners, common carriers, and domestic agents are owned by Trans-Border. This allows the company to have complete control over every aspect of the transportation process. Trans-Border is proud to say that its corporate office is in Latham, NY and we intend to keep it that way.

At this time, Trans-Border has developed a network of over 100 international agents to provide global coverage and 275 domestic agents to provide service throughout the United States. The company has grown from the original 6 employees to a staff of over 40 and growing.

In January 2003, Trans-Border moved into our current building, the first one we have ever owned. The new location has 50% more office space and has dock/warehouse areas. The key to the company's growth has been the vision from day one combined with the knowledge, dedication, energy and creativity of the people who work at the company.

The mission statement, which was written back in 1997, says it all. 'Our objective is to exceed our customers' logistics needs with services unmatched by our competition in the global transportation industry. We provide efficient and cost-effective solutions that minimize distractions and increase profitability for our customers.'

  • Became a licensed NVOCC

2003

  • Moved into first fully owned facility with 32 employees
  • C-TPAT certified by US Customs and Border Protection

2004

  • Entered into a strategic alliance with Info Trade LLC (C-TPAT certification expert)

2006

  • Established an Inside Sales / Customer Service Department

2007

  • Celebrated 10 year Anniversary
  • Began preparation of marketing Trans-Border IA3
