New Indonesian Regulation for Shipments
February 12, 2019 – The Indonesian Ministry of Treasury is now enforcing with immediate effect the requirement of additional data elements for all shipments to and from Indonesia.
This new mandate is similar to the recently updated China advanced manifest rule in which the consignee company codes (such as the China USCI code, US Tax EIN number, etc.) were required for goods transported under airway bills and sea freight bills of lading for shipments to/from mainland China.
With immediate effect, Trans-Border will require all US exporters to furnish us with their Indonesian Customer’s 15 digit tax register number (NPWP) in order to comply with this new mandate.
We therefore ask all exporters of goods to Indonesia to implement an open line of communication with their customer to ensure this information is readily available when a shipment is made ready for export from the US. Failure to provide this information in a timely manner will result in the delay of the shipment.
For imports from Indonesia to the US, Trans-Border will provide the necessary data to Indonesia Customs to comply with the new mandate.
