Canadian Pacific Railway Strike
Today, the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Train & Engine (TCRC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) issued notice to Canadian Pacific Railway Limited advising of their respective plans to strike at 2200 eastern time on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
The actions of this strike will have a severe impact on the movement of freight through Canada and delays should be expected.
During the strike, CP intermodal terminals will remain open and operational as long as there is yard capacity. However capacity will likely become tight as rail bound containers will not move. There will be an embargo on all reefer containers during the strike.
CP will continue to meet with the TCRC and the IBEW in the hopes of reaching agreements that are in the best interests of the entire CP family, its customers, shareholders and the broader North American economy.
