10 Percent Tariff on $200 billion Worth of Chinese Imports
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative released a list of $200 billion worth of Chinese imports that will be subject to additional tariffs effective September 24, 2018.
Announced in July, the final list of 5,745 tariff lines has been finalized after a six-week comment period. The effective date for the 10 percent increase will occur on September 24, 2018; however, the tariff level on this list will increase from 10 percent to 25 percent starting January 1, 2019.
Following the announcement, China immediately responded by increasing tariffs on an additional $60bn worth of U.S. good.
